I attended a Write-In today sponsored by a local writer’s group. Seven hours of writing in a library conference room filled with creative energy from other writers. They also gave away a few door prizes. I didn’t win anything but it was still the best day ever!
We now have a Speaker of the House. Kevin McCarthy won after a week and a gazillion votes. Recently, our government has become such an embarrassment. I don’t know what’s wrong with people.

We had a light dusting of snow, but it quickly melted. Huge flakes fell heavily this morning, and I worried my grandson would come early, and I would miss the big event due to the weather. But I don’t think it’s enough to prevent travel. We were lazy, made snow ice cream, and stayed close to the fire.

Our grandson was born early Monday morning. Waylon weighed in at 6lb. 8oz. and was 20 ½ inches long. He’s beautiful and such a sweet baby. Ray went back to Missouri today and I am staying in Texas until Monday. Matt is on the way down for the Ft. Worth Stock Show and Rodeo this weekend. I’ll share a ride home with him on Monday. Meanwhile, I’m helping out the new parents and getting cuddles.
D/FW weather has been great. Snow is expected in Missouri next week.

Sleet fell as I made my way home from the grocery store yesterday. I managed to find everything I needed, but the store was crowded and everyone was talking about the weather. 6-10 inches of snow was predicted but we received between four and five. Today I made a Cajun shrimp boil with smoked sausage, corn on the cob, and potatoes. We’d never tried the dish before, but we liked it. Tonight we’ll watch a southern movie. I like themes.
Waylon is getting his parents trained. Everyone is adjusting well. I like to think that they’re missing me terribly, but in reality, they have everything under control.
