We’ve had lots of rain and four baby lambs were born.

I’ve almost completed my first fiction book, and I’m working on several ongoing projects. My lack of technology skills is holding me back. Many other writers are illustrating their picture books and creating animated marketing. I’m in desperate need of a tutor! Every step to publication comes with a price. My friends earn money editing, formatting, illustrating, and designing covers. I don’t have enough time for my projects much less work for others. I feel lost.

A scary hail storm blew through yesterday evening. Tornadoes touched down in Tennessee and seem to occur daily somewhere in the US. The storm moved to the southeast overnight. Today there’s not a cloud in the sky and temperatures are hovering around the mid-seventies on the ridge.

University campuses are protesting the wars and Biden has stalled sending artillery to Israel.

Trump’s in court every day for behavior common to most if not all of Washington and Wall Street. Some charges he faces aren’t even illegal.

Marjorie Taylor Greene called for Mike Johnson to step down from his position as Speaker of the House. Her motion was booed and outvoted by a narrow margin.

All in all, it was a crazy news day.

The Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) were visible last night. The colors and streaks were more vibrant through a phone camera lens, but it was still a spectacular sight. We watched last night and we’ll look again tonight.

We’ve had lots of clouds and rain this week.

I’ve been researching ways to illustrate children’s books with AI. I committed to watching one YouTube video a day on the subject. Ray said he’d be my graphic artist and illustrator so I could write. That seems too good to be true. I hope it is, but….

Today I’m working on a recipe for Dragon’s Foot Cookies to put in the back of my book. I’m adding a few food and drink pairings and discussion questions.

Clomping down the back deck stairs to fill my birdfeeders, I must have startled a cottontail. She made a racket as she squeezed out from under the stairs which made me jump. My quick movements sent my body into shock. The speed and contortions surprised my lower back and right ankle. I feel I hadn’t used a few of those muscles in some time. Fortunately, no animals, humans, or bird seed were lost or really hurt in this incident.

The weather is perfect for May here on the ridge. Ray and I have been busy formatting and illustrating The Dragon’s Foot. We expect to release it in the fall.
