Ray and I are in Hot Springs visiting with Stephanie and Waylon for a few days. They’ll follow us home on Saturday and stay until Friday. Then Stephanie goes to a concert in Oklahoma and Waylon stays with us until Sunday afternoon.
The Hot Springs fireworks show on Independence Day or Labor Day is one to see. The show was breath-taking, and the view from our balcony at the Sunbay Resort was spectacular.
The ridge has cooler temps later this week, but it’s hot here in Hot Springs.

We had a fun couple of weeks with Stephanie and Waylon. He’s a sweet baby. Our house seems quiet now, and we’re playing catch-up on all the household chores we neglected while babysitting.
I’m trying to get back in the writing groove. God in the Doggie Bag will go live on Amazon within 72 hours and I’ll order some author copies. Word that I’m an author is getting out locally and people are asking for books. That’s exciting.
The weather’s been nice. We could use some rain.

We got nearly three inches of rain Saturday night.
Ray reached into a chicken nest and found a rat snake. He didn’t get bit. The snake must have been resting after digesting all our eggs. It sure scared Ray, though.

I joined a Bible study written by a lady in the Springfield Writers’ Guild. Our first gathering was yesterday. After our meeting, I’d planned to do some shopping. Then I had trouble keeping the Jeep running after my first stop, so I brought it home and we dropped it at a local dealership.
We found fresh blood on our front porch yesterday. It looked like we sacrificed an animal out there. Not really. But there were several drops of blood and some smears or tracks. We thought something had got one of our chickens, but they’re fine and so is the dog. Ray wondered if the chickens had attacked something. It’s still a mystery. We left the blood there as a deterrent for trespassers, but it didn’t work. Our first Jehovah’s Witnesses visited this morning.
I heard a “Whoop” out in the woods. Ray said it was a cow. I think he said that to keep me calm. Too late. Big Foot’s after me.

We picked up the Jeep today. The mechanic couldn’t find anything wrong with it. This story will likely be continued.
My God in the Doggie Bag books were delivered today. I’m trying to schedule a book signing in Mineral Wells during our October visit.
